If you make no elections within 31 days, your default coverage will take effect and continue through December 31. Your next opportunity to change your benefits will be Annual Enrollment, unless you have a qualifying change in family or employment status.
Default coverage:
- Medical: Coverage in the HSA Basic medical plan option, covering you only; no coverage for your family. Your share of the cost will be deducted from your first and second paychecks each month on a before-tax basis.
- Dental: No coverage.
- Vision: No coverage.
- Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA) and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA): No participation.
- Health Savings Account (HSA): No participation.
- Long-term disability (LTD) buy-up: No participation.
- AEP System Retirement Plan (Pension Plan): Automatic enrollment after one year.
- AEP Retirement Savings 401(k) plan: Automatic enrollment after 21 days at 3% of your eligible compensation on a before-tax basis contributed to the applicable target retirement fund.
- Vacation: Automatic eligibility.
For full-time employees only:
In addition to the coverage listed above, full-time employees will automatically receive coverage under certain company-paid benefits as follows:
- Life insurance: 2x annual base pay for yourself.*
- Supplemental life insurance: No coverage.
- Dependent life insurance: No coverage.
- Accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance: 2x annual base pay for yourself.*
- Supplemental AD&D insurance: No coverage.
- Dependent AD&D insurance: No coverage.
- Long-Term Disability (LTD) Plan: Automatic eligibility for 60% base plan.
- Sick Pay Program: Automatic eligibility.
- Personal days off (PDOs).
*If you are a rehired employee who, upon leaving on or after January 1, 2013, elected to port or convert your group life insurance/AD&D insurance coverage, the ported/converted coverage must be surrendered once you are again eligible for group life insurance/AD&D insurance coverage.
